The West African Exploration Initiative (WAXI), which started in 2006, is now in its fourth phase. It has the dual aims of scientific research focused on increasing our understanding of the tectonic and regolith settings of ore deposits and developing the research and training capacity of West African geological surveys and universities.
The project has evolved significantly over the years.
